Found out my 13 GTI that left my wife and friends semi stranded 3 hours from home has a borked timing chain and probably other problems. Quad cities VW offered me $5000 cash for it which is actually a decent offer so I’m taking it. Let the necessity car shopping begin!

The list:

Sensible: Lightly used loaded   Mazda3 in a good color, Manual. $16k. I could pay cash for it.

Interesting: 2019 Chevrolet Bolts are heavily discounted around here. I found lots of well equipped examples in the $28-$33 range. 200+ mile range easily accommodates all routine driving

Crazy: used BMW i3 rex
